Very racially divided and sad Malaysia“伤者是什么种族？”拨电召救伤车·医务人员先问

(Penang) An unfortunate accident occurred near a dark motorway in Bukit Tengah last night. While the seriously injured victim was lying by the roadside bleeding to death, a good Samaritan passerby made an urgent phone call to the emergency service.

After the good Samaritan was asked about the time and place of the accident, he was asked of which race the victim was.

The good Samaritan was shock to learn that even the state emergency service requires racial information before responding to emergency rescue. That gave the impression that the emergency service unit respond differently to different races.

This sad incident reminded me of a severe fire inferno happened by Sandy Land near Penang Jetty around 8 years ago. I was there arranging subsequent evacuation.

When the great fire was engulfing the entire shanty town, the state fire brigade which was five blocks away arrived later that the Butterworth Voluntary Fire Brigade which was about 30 km away and had to cross the strait of Melacca with the 13.5 km Penang Bridge across.

For your information, about 98% of the shanty town residents, which lived half kilometer from that ever delayed state fire brigade at time, were Chinese.

（光华日报. 北海26日讯）政府医院接获车祸紧急投报，院方在拿取投报者资料时，竟问出一句“伤者是什么种族？（Apa bangsa mangsa itu?）来作记录后，才派出救伤车前往事发地点。

周五晚，在大山脚武吉丁雅发生一宗严重交通意外，一名印裔青年受伤，一名路过人见况后，立即致电大山脚政府医院，岂料对方却问伤者是什么种族，而引起他的不满。

有关情况已不是首次发生，光华日报也曾接获很多读者的投诉，当投报人致电予医院急救组时，院方为防虚报，必定会拿下投报者的资料及现场所看到的情况。

可是院方在拿取时间、地点资料的同时，却要求投报者提供种族肤色的资料，这个提问让投报者对院方产生质疑，救人不是该不分彼此的吗？

道路漆黑撞路墩　骑士头破血流

据了解，事发当时,1名印裔青年凌晨回家途中从武吉敏惹骑着摩托车往武吉丁雅路段行驶，由于该区一片黑暗，相信摩托车骑士看不清楚前方直撞路墩，被抛至隔壁马路，头破血流。附近的公众听到巨响后，立刻前往给予协助，并召来救伤车。

8年前的一场大火

记得大约8年前, 檳岛红灯角靠近码头区发生大火, 离大火处半公里的政府消防局救火车迟迟不来, 隔岸不观火而离开约30公里远(并须过13.5公里槟威大桥)的北海义务消防团却反而先到了.

当年, 红灯角村庄的火灾灾民人口, 98%是华人.
